The Project Team consists of the following NGOs:
Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) works on issues
surrounding India’s diminishing biological resources and natural ecosystems, related
environmental, social and economic dimensions and the implications of this decline.
ATREE brings together researchers to do interdisciplinary applied work to achieve three
goals: a) conserving biological diversity and promote sustainable development,
b) improving institutional and policy frameworks for the protection of the environment,
and c) strengthening the capacity of government and non-government organisations to use
the best knowledge and data to address environmental challenges.
Citizen, consumer and civic Action Group (CAG) is as a professional citizens’ group seeking
to protect and promote consumer rights, environment protection and good governance processes
including participatory decision-making, transparency and accountability. CAG specifically
works on enhancing citizen participation in decision-making in several sectors including
land-use planning and coastal zone protection.
Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF) provides scientific leadership to address issues of
conservation of nature and natural resources in India. NCF scientists are working across
a spectrum of marine and terrestrial habitats and ecosystems, gathering an understanding
of wildlife and human ecology and how they impinge on conservation planning and practice.
NCF follows up on these studies by designing and implementing appropriate conservation action,
using science to guide conservation planning.
